Allah’ın ve evrenin insana kıyasla büyüklüğünden hareketle Allah’ın insanlara din göndermesinin, insanların yapıp ettiklerini önemsemesinin ve en önemlisi kişilerin ayrı ayrı tekil eylemleriyle uğraşmasının makul olmadığı sonucuna varan yaygın bir anlayış mevcut. Bu anlayış kendisini teist olmayan çevrelerde “Tanrı gerçekten varsa bile böyle küçük işlerle uğraşmaz” şeklinde gösterirken bazı dinî görüşler içerisinde “Allah öyle şeyler yapmaz o yüzden vahiy algımızı revize etmeliyiz” önermesi altında savunulmaktadır.
Ancak herhangi bir iş/oluş/eylemle ilgili “Tanrı böyle bir şey yapmaz” hükmünü vermenin tek başına bir anlam taşımadığının farkında olmamız gerekir. Bu ifadenin duygusal, veya retorik bir değeri varsa bile mantıken çok bir şey ifade etmez. Zira, Tanrı, kavramsal olarak mantıken mümkün olan her şeyi yapabilecek olan, tüm mümkün dünyaları gerçekleştirebilecek olan varlıktır ve “Tanrı küçük işlerle uğraşmaz” diyenlerin getirdiği örnekler mantıken imkansız şeyler (yuvarlak kare, evli bekar vb) değildir. Öyleyse Tanrı’nın neden “küçük işler”le uğraşmayacağına dair –Tanrısal imkan alanını daraltmamızı gerektiren- başka bir argüman getirmeleri gerekir.
Bu argüman genellikle “Koskoca evreni yaratan koskoca Allah x, y, z (önemsiz görünen herhangi bir şey) ile uğraşır mı?” soru kalıbı altında formüle edilir. Yani evrenin/Tanrı’nın büyüklüğü ile insanın küçüklüğü arasında öylesine şiddetli bir kontrast vardır ki bu iki varlık alanının herhangi bir şekilde kesişmesi mümkün değildir ve Allah’ın insanları –özellikle tekil olarak herhangi bir insanı- muhatap alması, onun tekil bir fiilini önemsemesi mümkün değildir.
Bunun böyle olduğunu düşünmek için bir sebebimiz yok. Aksine, bu düşüncenin hatalı bir örtük varsayımdan kaynaklandığını Allah’ın büyüklüğünü O’nun aşkınlığına (dışsallık ve kuşatıcılığa) indirgediğini söyleyebiliriz. Halbuki insanlar sadece aşkınlık değil içkinlik yönünden de sonsuz büyük olan bir varlığa inanır. Yani Tanrı evreni sadece dışarıdan kuşatmaz, aynı zamanda içine de nitelikleri aracılığı ile sonsuzca nüfuz eder. Yani Tanrı’nın büyüklüğü, anlamını sadece tümel olarak evreni bilmesinde değil tek bir atom içindeki tek bir kuarkı da “eşit derecede” kavramasında bulur. Böylece Tanrı’nın vereceği ilgi/önem açısından tüm evren ile tek bir atom arasında hiçbir fark kalmamış olur. Yani “Andromeda Galaksisini yaratan Allah tek bir insanla ilgilenir mi?” sorusunun cevabı “Evet, neden ilgilenmesin?” olur. Zira Tanrısal perspektifte insanı (tek bir insanı, hatta tek bir eylemi) evrenden daha değersiz kılan hiçbir şey yoktur.
Bu eleştirinin haklı olması için Tanrı’nın evreni uzaktan seyreden ve bizleri de hayal meyal gören salt dışsal bir varlık olması gerekirdi. Ama öyle değil. En azından hiçbir teist böyle bir varlığa inanmıyor. O yüzden bu olasılık konu dışı. Ayrıca illa bir değer/anlam hiyerarşisi kuracak olsaydık bile Andromeda’nın tek bir insanın tek bir amaçsal eyleminden daha önemli olduğunu söylemek için bir sebebimiz olmazdı. Zira anlam ve değeri oluşturan şey bilinçtir. Eğer bilinç diye bir şey var olmamış olsaydı dev bir hidrojen-helyum yığınının tek başına bir anlamı olmasını beklemezdik. Evrenin bir anlamı varsa zaten bu anlamı içerisindeki bilinçli varlıklara borçludur. O yüzden “Andromeda’yı yaratan Allah tek bir insanın yaptığı işle uğraşır mı?” sorusunun pek bir anlamı yok. Çünkü asıl onunla uğraşmasını bekleriz. İnsanla değil de kendi halindeki dev bir materyal yığınıyla uğraşması neden daha makul kabul edilsin?
