Kur’an, akraba evliliğini özellikle teşvik etmediği hâlde bazı ateist sayfalarda “Kur’an akraba evliliğini neden teşvik ediyor? Demek ki Muhammed genetik hastalıkları bilmiyor” gibi asılsız yorumlar yapılıyor. Oysa akraba evlilikleri Kur’an’da ne bir emir ne de tavsiyedir, İslâmın insana sunduğu geniş özgürlüklerden biridir sadece.

Ayrıca peygamber bir doktor veya bilim insanı olmadığı için olaya bu açıdan bakmak zorunda değil. O, sadece kendine indirilene uyar. Allah’ın yasaklamadığı şeyler serbesttir (5:101). İslam ise 1.derece akraba(anne, baba ve çocuklar), 2.derece akraba(dede, nine, torun, kardeş) ve 3.derece akraba(dayı, amca, teyze, hala, yeğen) ile evlenmeyi haram/yasak kılmıştır. İlgili ayet şu şekilde;

Size şunlarla evlenmek haram kılındı: Analarınız, kızlarınız, kız kardeşleriniz, halalarınız, teyzeleriniz, erkek kardeş kızları, kız kardeş kızları, sizi emziren sütanneleriniz, süt kız kardeşleriniz, karılarınızın anneleri, kendileriyle zifafa girdiğiniz karılarınızdan olup evlerinizde bulunan üvey kızlarınız, -eğer anneleri ile zifafa girmemişseniz onlarla evlenmenizde size bir günah yoktur- öz oğullarınızın karıları, iki kız kardeşi (nikâh altında) bir araya getirmeniz. Ancak geçenler (önceden yapılan bu tür evlilikler) başka. Şüphesiz Allah çok bağışlayıcıdır, çok merhamet edicidir (Nisa 23)

Bunlar dışında kalanlar “helal” kategorisindedir, nitekim peygamber, halasının kızı Zeynep binti Cahş ile evlenirken, kızı Hz.Fatma’yı da amcasının oğlu Hz Ali ile evlendirmiştir. Ateist/deist kesimin akraba evliliği diyerek burda itiraz ettiği kısım ise “kuzen evliliği”

Akraba evlilikleri, aralarında kan bağı olan kişiler arasındaki evliliklerdir. Yakınlık derecesine göre en sakıncalısı, 1. derece kuzen evliliği dediğimiz; teyze, dayı, amca ve hala çocukları arasında yapılan evliliklerdir. Kardeş torunları arasındaki evlilikler ise 2. derece kuzen evlilikleri olup kalıtsal hastalık açısından daha az risklidirler. Daha uzak akrabaların evliliği ise daha da az risk taşımaktadır.

Peki kuzen evliliği iddia edildiği gibi büyük bir risk taşıyor mu?

Rutgers Üniversitesi’nde antropoloji uzmanı Profesör Robin Fox’un çalışmasına göre; insanlık tarihinin başından bu yana gerçekleşmiş tüm evliliklerin %80’i, ikinci derece kuzen yada daha yakın akrabalar arasında yapılmıştır. (1) Buna göre, hepimizin aile tarihinde akraba evliliği olduğunu söyleyebiliriz.

Bugün ise dünya toplumunun en az %20’si tarafından tercih edilmektedir. Doğan çocukların en az %8,4’ü akraba evliliklerinden doğmaktadır. (2) Japonya’da yapılan çalışmalarda, akraba evlilikleri oranı %6 dolayındadır; hatta adalarda izolasyon nedeniyle %29’a yükselebilmektedir. (3) Arap ülkeleri, Güney Hindistan, Mısır ve Türkiye gibi ülkelerde ise bu oran daha da yüksektir.

Türkiye’de evli çiftlerin yaklaşık olarak üçte birinin birbirleriyle akraba oldukları görülmüştür (%29.2). Akraba olan eşlerin %80’i kardeş çocuklarıdır. İkinci kuşak kuzenler arası yani kardeş torunlarının evlenme oranı %5’dir. Bunların dışında kalan akraba evliliklerinin, diğer uzak akrabalar arasında yarı yarıya dağıldıkları görülmektedir. (4)

Eğer ki genel olarak halk arasında bilindiği ve bazı ateistlerce iddia edildiği gibi; akraba evliliğinden doğan her çocuk sakat olsa, adı geçen ülkelerin hepsinin “sakat çocuklar ülkesi” olması gerekirdi. Oysa akraba evliliğinden doğan her çocuk hasta olmadığı gibi, hasta çocukların hepsi de akraba evliliğinden doğmuş değildir.

Yapılan araştırmalarda gösterilmiştir ki akraba olmayan bireylerin yaptığı evliliklerde genetik bir hastalık ortaya çıkma olasılığı %2-3 arasıdır. Akraba evliliklerinde ise bu olasılık %4-6 arasındadır. Ölü doğum sıklığını normal toplumda %1.4 iken, akraba evliliklerinde %2.14’dir. Diğer taraftan düşük riski normal toplumda %5.21 iken, akraba evliliklerinde %10.55’dir. Yeni doğan kayıpları açısından bakıldığında ise %50lik bir artış söz konusudur. Normal toplumda bu oran %10.76, akraba evliliklerinde %16.29’dir. (5)

Akraba evliliğinde az miktardaki risk artışına karşın bazı yararlar da var. Genetik terim olarak “Inbreeding” terimi akraba birleşmesi demektir. Inbreeding sayesinde belirli bir insan topluluğu genetik havuzunu başkalaşmaktan koruyarak ırklar oluşturmaktadır. Bu da insanlar ve diğer canlılar arasında türün devamı için çok önemli olan genetik çeşitliliği sağlıyor. Eğer kapalı toplumlar olmasa gen havuzları kaynaşacak ve zaman içinde tektipleşecekti. Bir türün genetik çeşitliliğini kaybedip tektipleşmesi ise tür için çok ciddi bir tehdittir.

“Ey insanlar! Şüphe yok ki, biz sizi bir erkek ve bir dişiden yarattık ve birbirinizi tanımanız için sizi boylara ve kabilelere ayırdık..” (Hucurât 13)

Akraba evliliğinin bir diğer faydası ise toplumdan zararlı genlerin uzaklaştırılmasını sağlamasıdır. Ömrünün son 40 yılını akraba evliliklerindeki genetik değişimleri araştırmaya adamış olan Dr. Alan H. Bittles 2012 yılında Cambridge Üniversitesi yayınlarında bu konuda bir kitap yayınladı. Kitabında, akraba evliliğinin kısa vadede genetik hastalık riskini bir miktar artırmasına rağmen insanlık için yararlı olduğunu çünkü zararlı mutasyonları insanlıktan temizlediğini söylüyor. Araştırmacıya göre eğer akraba evliliğini yasaklarsanız zararlı mutasyonlar toplum içinde gizli halde sürekli artacak ve uzun bir zaman sonra önlenemez boyutta kendini gösterecek. (6)

Meseleyi toplumsal açıdan ele alalım. Akraba evliliklerinin dünya genelinde yaygın oluşundan bahsetmiştik, şimdi de ne kadar eskiye dayandığından bahsedelim: Bir antik DNA çalışmasında İranlı ilk çiftçilerden birinin genomu dizilenmiştir. Zagros Dağları’nda bir mağarada bulunan bireyin, 9 bin yıl önce yaşamış olduğu tahmin edilmektedir. Antik çiftçinin genomundaki bazı bölgelerin aşırı homojenliği, akraba evliliği geleneğinin o dönemde mevcut olduğuna işaret etmektedir. (7)

Akraba evliliği geleneğinin en az 9 bin yıl öncesine dayandığı, yeryüzünde şu ana kadar yaşamış insanların %80’inin akraba evliliği yaptığı ve bugün her beş çiftten en az birinin bu evlilikleri tercih ettiği bir dünyada, eğer bu dinen yasak olsaydı; İslam’la yeni tanışan ve kültürlerinde akraba evliliğinin yeri olan kişiler, kültürleri ve dinleri arasında bir tercih yapmak zorunda kalacaktı ama bu serbestlik sayesinde hem kültürlerini devam ettirip hem de islamı kolayca yaşayabilirler ve böylece islam daha büyük kitlere de ulaşabilir.

Din ne evliliği ne de evliliği sürdürmeyi emreder. Yani bir müslüman evlenmemeyi tercih edebilir veya evlenmişse de boşanabilir ve bu yüzden dine aykırı bir şey yapmış olmaz. Ama bununla beraber dinimizin evliliğe önem verdiğini de belirtelim zira zina gibi önemli bir günahtan insanı men eder. Kuzen evliliklerinin serbestliğiyle aslında evlilik yapmak daha da kolaylaştırılmıştır. Böylece evlenemeyecek kişiler de evlilik yapabilir ve sonuç yine toplum yararına olur.

Öte yandan islamı kabul etmiş ve dinini yaşamaya çalışan birisi, bir akrabasını beğenirse onunla evlilik hayali kurabilir ama din bunu yasaklamış olsaydı duygularını gizlemeye ve yok saymaya çalışacaktı. Bu durum belki de beraberinde depresyon ve travmaları da getirebilirdi. Akraba evliliği sonucu doğacak çocuklarda artmış genetik hastalık riski varsa, evlenemeyen kişilerde de ruhsal hastalıkların riski artabilmektedir.

“..Olur ki, bir şey sizin için hayırlı iken, siz onu hoş görmezsiniz. Yine olur ki, bir şey sizin için kötü iken, siz onu seversiniz. Allah bilir, siz bilmezsiniz.” (Bakara 216)

Bu meseleyi “ileri yaşta gebelikler” gibi benzer bir örnekle kıyaslayarak anlamaya çalışalım. Tıp dünyası, ileri yaş gebeliği sınıflaması yaparken 35 yaşı referans almaktadır. Bunun nedeni 35 yaşından sonra daha yüksek oranda görülen kromozom anormallikleridir.

Down sendromu, her 750-1000 canlı doğumun birinde görülür. 20 yaşında bir annenin Down Sendrom’lu çocuk doğurma ihtimali 1/1441 iken, bu risk 30 yaşında 1/959’a, 40 yaşında 1/84’e ve 50 yaşında ise 1/44’e çıkar. (8) Down sendromu; herhangi bir kalıtsal bozukluk oluşma ihtimalinin yaklaşık yarısını oluşturduğundan, bebekte herhangi bir kalıtsal bozukluk oluşma ihtimalini hesaplamak için bu olasılıkları iki ile çarpmak gerekir.

Otizm Spektrum Bozukluğu’nun etiyolojisi hala tam olarak anlaşılmamış olsa da, ebeveyn yaşına ilişkin çalışmalar, OSB riskine aracılık eden genetik ve çevresel mekanizmalara ipuçları sağlamaktadır. Epidemiyolojik, genetik ve hayvan çalışmalarından elde edilen kanıtlar, hem baba hem de anne için yaşının ilerlemesinin, yavrularda OSB riskini artırdığı hipotezini desteklemektedir. (9)

2009-2013 yılları arasında 421.201 hamilede yapılan bir çalışmaya göre düşük yapma riski 25-29 yaş arası kadınlarda %10 iken 30 yaşından sonra hızla artarak 45 yaş ve üstü kadınlarda %53’e ulaşıyordu. (10) Yaşla birlikte düşük olasılığındaki bu artış kısmen embriyolarda daha fazla kromozom bozuklukları oluşmasından kaynaklanıyor. İleri yaştaki anne adaylarında özellikle ilk 2.5 ayda düşük riski daha yüksek. 

İleri yaş gebeliklerinde doğum esnasında da bazı sıkıntılar yaşanabilir. Öncelikle, erken doğum daha sık izlenir. Bu bebekler, ciddi olabilecek kısa ve uzun dönem sağlık problemleriyle karşı karşıyadır. Yine ölü doğum ihtimali de yaşla beraber atış gösterir. (11) Bazı çalışmalar, ileri yaş hamilelerin düşük ağırlıklı (2,5 kg altı) bebek doğurma risklerinin de daha fazla olduğunu bildiriyor. (12) Washington Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Perinatoloji bölümündeki birkaç doktorun yayınladıkları çalışmada ise 40 yaş üzerindeki hamilelerde, anne karnında büyüme geriliğinin 3 kat daha fazla görüldüğü saptandı.

Bebekte oluşabilecek bu sorunlara ilaveten; annede yüksek tansiyon, hamilelik diyabeti, erken doğum gibi annenin yaşayabileceği sağlık sorunları da var. Ayrıca gebelikte ağrıya ya da kanamalara neden olabilen rahim içi iyi huylu tümörlere bu kadınlarda daha sık rastlanır. Gebelik esnasında yaşam kalitesini düşüren hemoroid, idrar tutamama, bacak varisleri, bel ve kas ağrıları da daha kolay ortaya çıkabilmektedir. (13)

Akraba evliliği ve ileri yaş gebelikleri dışında kalan riskli durumlardan bazıları: kan uyuşmazlığı, anne yaşının 17’den küçük olması, yüksek baba yaşı, beşten fazla doğum yapmış olmak, annenin sistemik hastalığının olması, çoğul gebelikler, Uteroplasental Nedenler (Plasentanın primer yetmezlikleri (genetik, edinsel) ve uterusun yapısı ile ilgili bozukluklar), Gebelikte ortaya çıkan diabetes mellitus (yenidoğanlarda kan şekerinin hızla düşmesi nedeniyle beyinde kalıcı özürler görülebilir), Gebelikte ateşli, döküntülü hastalık geçirilmesi, Doktor önerisi dışında ilaç kullanımı, Annenin kötü ve yetersiz beslenmesi, Annenin sigara, alkol kullanması, Röntgen ışınıyla karşılaşma vs.

Bu risk grubundaki anne ve baba adaylarının çocuk sahibi olmaları kanunen yasaklanamaz öyle değil mi? Öyleyse dinen yasak olmaması ile ilgili bir eleştiri de getirilemez. Akraba evliliği meselesi de buna benziyor. Risk her zaman olduğu gibi, riski arttıran faktörler de olabilir. Ama bugün feministler “İstediğim yaşta istediğim kadar doğururum” derken ses edemeyenlerin akraba evliliğine karşı çıkmaları anlamsızdır.

Kuzen evlilikleri Çin, Tayvan, Kuzey Kore, Güney Kore ve Filipinlerde yasal değil. Takicistan’da ise henüz 2016’dan beri yasak. Amerika’da her eyalette farklı kurallar var. Bazı eyaletlerde kuzenler evlenemez ama Maine eyaleti doğacak çocuklarda bir sıkıntı olmayacağına dair genetik haritayı getirenlere izin veriyor. Nikah kıymayan eyatler ise diğer eyaletlerde kıyılmış nikahları resmen tanıyor. Çin Cumhuriyeti’nde 1981 tarihli Evlilik Kanunu ile kuzen evlilikleri yasaklanmış ama Çin’in 1979-2016 yılları arasında “tek çocuk politikası” uyguladığını, 2016’dan beri ise “iki çocuk politikası” na geçtiğini göz önünde bulundurmak lazım. Birçok ülke ise akraba evliliğini yasaklamak yerine genetik danışmanlık hizmeti veriyor.

Bazı ülkelerde ise İslamın koyduğu sınırların dışına çıkılmıştır. Örneğin İsviçre’de yapılan kanun değişikliği ile (14), kan hısımlığında evlenme yasağını altsoy ve üstsoy hısımlığı ile kardeşler sınırlamıştır. Buna göre; amca, hala, dayı ve teyze ile yeğen arasındaki evlenme artık yasak değildir. “isviçreli bilim adamları” deyimiyle hafızalarımızda yer eden bu ülkenin bilim konusunda yanılma ihtimali pek yoktur.

O zaman mesele sadece bilimsel değildir. Siz tıbben akraba evliliklerini tavsiye etmeyebilirsiniz ama tek bir açıdan bakmak yanlış sonuçlar çıkarmanıza sebep olur. Toplumu yapacakları eylemlerin muhtemel sonuçları hakkında bilinçlendirebilirsiniz ama onların yerine karar veremezsiniz. Akraba evliliğini tercih etmeyebilirsiniz ama Allah’ın serbest bıraktığı bir şeyi yasaklayamazsınız.

  1. Yazı içi teşekkürler. İleri yaş gebeliği hakkın da bir sualim olacaktı. İleri yaş gebelikte doktorlar bu yaşı 35 yaş olarak referans alıyor demişsiniz. Burada aklıma takılan soru Peygamberimizin (s.a.s.) Hz. Hatice vâlidemiz ile çocuk yapma yaşıdır. Hz. Hatice validemiz son çocuğunu Dünya’ya getirdiğin de 52-53 yaşlarındadır. Peygamber Efendimiz’in (s.a.s.) Hz. Mariye validemizden olan çocuğunda ise peygamberimiz (s.a.s.) 59 yaşlarındadır.

    Kafama takılan bazı dinsizler diyor ki; bu yaşlar ileri gebelik olduğu için çocuk doğması imkânsız. Bunun cevabı nedir?

    1. hayır imkansız değil ama kusurlu doğum riski artıyor. islam ise evlilik ve çocuk sahibi olmak için üst bir sınır koymuyor “evlilikten umudunu kesenler” diye bir gruptan bahsederken bile. çok erken yaşta doğumlarda da risk artıyor ama islamda alt sınır için de belli bir yaş yok. kısacası hastalıklar hayatın bir parçası ve risk her zaman var. eğer bir risk faktörüne itiraz ediyorlarsa diğerine de itiraz etsinler samimilerse demek istedim.
